Cancer Lunar Eclipse

The awareness finally came to me this evening, after a full day today, and a week of being blinded by the energy I feel from others (Pluto is transiting my 7th house-clearing karmic relationship residue)--the energy is building, moving us full gear towards Friday's lunar eclipse!  Today the Sun in Cancer is directly opposing Pluto (the Goddess of Power), both at 6 degrees, in square to Uranus in Aries at 4.  Saturn sits in Libra at 10 degrees, filling out this building grand cross (squares and oppositions are stressful aspects), full of extreme emotions and anger or the opportunity to embrace radical responsibility for our emotions and balance.

The red square shows the grand cross of the mentioned planets, all in cardinal, action oriented signs.  Cancer relates to our emotions, our emotional body, and our egos.  Cancer people--Sun, Venus, Mercury, Mars in Cancer and charts with 4th house planets--need space from the outer world to occasionally melt down, so they can feel themselves and their emotional bodies, otherwise they become too sensitive to the emotions/feelings of others.  Without that space Cancer becomes crabby and snaps--literally.  In this lunar chart with Pluto involved, its really important! to have the space to melt down.  Add Uranus into the mix and the energy becomes volatile, either internally or externally, if the need for space isn't honored.

We need this space for several reasons:  1) because transits are collective imprints that we receive from our planetary brothers and sisters, and it's a very good idea to honor their communications to us, and 2), because Cancer not only relates to our emotions, it is linked to our egos.  Some of us need to build up our egos, while others need to downsize.  Either way, the needs of the ego are linked to our personalities, not necessarily to our souls, and our personalities only take us so far in this domino effect type world we are living in.

This lunar eclipse represents the doorway we are incrementally moving into over the next five years, as Pluto and Uranus come into exact square, and how this will impact our ability to manage the Promethean type energy that will impact our emotional bodies, our emotional power in the years to come.

Deep seated fears are resting in us all now, because the outcome, the future is unknown.  Thus getting in touch with what lies in our own personal unknown is of great value for the courageous soul.  The corporate political agenda is darker and more ruthless than possibly ever before (except for the last time Pluto transited in Capricorn in 1765), while economic instability and serious earthly concerns grip our attention.  Pluto in the sign of Capricorn (operating in the shadow, which it is) represents the corruption of wall street, our tyrannically greed driven corporate seized government, and the execution of extreme cutbacks for the middle lower classes. And Uranus in Aries symbolizes the rebels who just won't put up with it anymore (from either side left, right or inbetween).

The challenges we will experience from these squares become exacerbated in the outer world; one, because the powers that be distort natural law (living within our means, living in union with nature...) and two; because our egos have not processed, released, and cleared the emotional baggage it has carried around for eons (and/or this life), and this one life is enough to start with.  Wherever you are feeling challenged right now is your guides, to the areas of your psyche and life that require your attention and care.
If we lived in unison with the elements, we would still be going through significant changes with these transits, but they would be much less extreme and more palatable for our souls to take.  Uranus also represents trauma.

Cancer is the sign of nurturing.  Where do you need to mother yourself?  A healthy mother helps a child feel safe, to express, to receive, to be.  Pluto represents the deeper soul self, so don't be surprised if repressed, painful memories are attempting to push to the surface.  Uranus helps break things open too, so they may come up in a shocking manner.  It we are conscious of the cosmic barometer and embodied, we won't be surprised by the sudden storms that our current times bring.

I've been writing about this radical change on the horizon for some time.  If you can feel, get a sense, of the energy of this eclipse, then you know what I'm taking about.  Remember the sixties, the intensity?  Well, the coming transits are harnessing those exact volatile awakening vibes into new form.  The issues are similar, yet different.  The pot is fuller, and the anti is up.

Neptune's movement into Pisces for the next fourteen years may just be our saving grace.  None of us know exactly what the coming times will bring.  Our best bet is to clean house, practice embodiment, connect and commune with the earth, and release, let go, release, let go, release, let go...

Peace and love,
Wendy Lynne Magdalena

Summer 2011

Happy Summer Solstice everyone.

This post focuses on bringing mindful attention to the building energy that this summer brings, the US Saturn return, and the forging of new pathways for us personally and collectively.

Yesterday's planetary configuration laid out the collective blueprint for the summer, marking August 28th as the ending of a significant chapter of time (5,125 years), not about the ending of the world, but the ending of the way we live in the world!

We have been living as if there is no cost to garnishing anything we want from the planet, but that time is coming to a close.  The three eclipse chart of the summer (June 1, June 15, July 1) and the summer solstice chart reveal insights into how this summer and the coming times will play out.  Barbara Hand Clow's site, Astroflash, gives extensive insights into them.  She encourages us to print it out so she doesn't have to go over the same themes continuously.

Here, I attempt to translate the charts for those who need less astrological interpretation.   By August 28th the United States will be in a full Saturn return which means all the ground work (governance, financial institutions, policy) that has been laid out since the last Saturn return (thirty years ago, more importantly the last seven years) will be accounted for.  Saturn doesn't like messes--it seeks organization, accountability, and becomes the grim reaper when it needs to clean things up.  The July 1 eclipse brings us another cardinal cross this summer, and leads us to Saturn's return, which also brings us to the beginning of seven exact squares between Uranus (the awakener) and Pluto (the destroyer, rebirther).  What do Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn want from us?

The best way to work with any body of energy (whether it be planet, human, or a past soul) is to communicate with it, and so we ask. The answer's I get are...

Personally it is an extremely important question, because every choice we make, every thought we focus on is sent out into the universal vortex of creation, the collective galactic mind (for this galaxy--the galactic center, 26 Sag)..

Pluto seeks to eliminate that which is un-useful and dead, so it can rejuvenate it's lifeforce, it's soulful power.  Uranus seeks to radically change what is not in progressive alignment with it's role to lead humanity forward, to its necessary and natural evolution. All this would be much easier if we honored the earth as alive, and were in union with 'all of our relations' (all of life), all of the time.  But we aren't.  We live in a world driven outside of the natural norms--to violate natural law.

Recently, I have been contemplating a few charts with fixed crosses, so the planetary energy of Venus, the Sun, Pluto and Uranus have been on my mind (planets associated with Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).  I then, by happenstance, listened to part of WPFW Earthbeat radio show (with Nick Rosen) which focused on renewal energy, generating your own power off of the grid, and how much 'the people' are wanting to gain independence from the system!  While I listened, my mind kept correlating what they were talking about with the Sun (solar power) and Uranus (electrical energy).  Uranus, now in Aries, which seeks independence from the stagnancy and status quo limitations, while Pluto, in the sign of Capricorn, seeks to demolish systems that are not accountable.

Because the world we live in has been usurped into delusion for thousands of years, especially denying our relationship to planetary influences and their essential life giving energy, the upcoming squares between Uranus and Pluto in Aries and Capricorn have to also manage the distortions we have created here on earth...

Putting Energy Behind Our Intentions

Well, this eclipse has been quite revealing, even though energy from others have spun out of control around me, impacting the serene state of mind I was embodying, ultimately affecting my desirability to merge with the lunar energies that came forth!  I was particularly irritated by this inconvenience because the full moon eclipse was exactly conjunct on my South Node dispositor-Jupiter in Gemini, which has everything to do with my North Node.  Thus these past two eclipses, in Gemini/Sagittarius, carry significant importance for me.

In my chart Jupiter's placement reveals my soul's prior knowledge and function, and my North Node in Gemini reveals my soul's intention (destiny) in this life, to share and communicate about that which is invisible, intangible, unknown, mysterious and unconscious, from a very personal perspective (Mercury in Leo).  All of this is to be conveyed via compassion and empathy, in honor of the position of Jupiter and my North Node (12th house), my Pisces mid-heaven and more.

Natally, Jupiter  sits on my ascendant, just inside the 12th house, conjunct Vesta, along with my my North Node in Gemini.  Jupiter-Vesta and the NN are not conjunct, but they are completely inter-related in my chart and in my being.

To further enhance the Gemini theme in my chart, my Sun and Mercury (the dispositor of my NN) are in the third house of Gemini in the sign of Leo (wow, astrology is mind-boggling!).  And just in case my soul has any resistance to fulfilling its intention (it has), I have three Virgo planets (supposedly also related to Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini), square the NN to guide me back to Mercury (which is retrograde by the way-that means my thinking process is more intuitive and internal) if I get off track!  Needless to say, I am multi-talented and gifted, as well as multi-challenged!

For years, I have had the desire to publish astrology articles in the Mountain Astrologer magazine, and to author several books I have been writing for close to ten years, but I have had resistance, fear, stumbling blocks, and distractions to dissuade me.  Still, I am always writing (Gemini and Virgo individuals want to write!).  Writing is a natural expression of both signs, and with all the mutable fire, air and earth I have it is no doubt my soul intention is to PUT IT OUT THERE!

Out where?  In the abyss of the collective unconscious~are you sure?  Humm, I may change my mind about this sometimes, but my soul never does, it just keeps on keeping on.  The 12th house is known in medieval astrology as the house of undoing.  Finding one's way with so much Pisces has not been easy.  Traditional Piscean themes include delays, late arriving, late-bloomer, not discovered until mid-life or later, addictions, confusion, boundaries issues...need I say more.  Thank goodness, Gemini sits in my 12th house.  It cuts right through the mind fog and gets to the point.

Mercury, Gemini's ruling planet, mythologically relates to Hermes, the God of light-footed swiftness.  My Gemini planets in the 12th house act as psychopomp for souls, encouraging a high degree of intuitive communication since childhood with souls past (and animals, trees, and fairies too).

After much intensity this week, I went to bed last night exhausted and awoke at 3AM.  I immediately wanted to write, and saw an email from a new found writer-astrologer friend.  She invited me to attend the UAC 2012 Conference.  While I was looking at the site, I tuned into the professional astrology associations listed.  One in particular drew my attention (OPA) and I noticed an upcoming conference in November here on the east coast.  As I explored their website, I found courses that support astrologers becoming professionals, plus an article that spoke so deeply to the yearning within me to continue my astrological training and join with like minded professionals, I began to cry from relief.

Sometime after the 1999 Solar Eclipse in Leo, I began seriously looking at schools-styles of astrology to study.  The two avenues I explored just didn't fit, and I eventually studied professionally with one particular astrologer for two years, which led to a plethora of problems for me personally, and derailed my trust in ever studying again with another astrology  teacher, though I did deepen my astrological abilities in language, understanding and awareness.  Prior to that, I studied on my own for seventeen plus years.

In those moments, I came home to myself.  With this new decision, all the layers that attempted to come forth and integrate several years before, synchronized before me and merged into my being.  Now, I knew that committing to a massage practice at NIHA was a step backwards.  What I needed, wanted, was more astrology skills to enhance my confidence, to go for it all the way, to jump into the abyss and rise, rather than sink or swim.

Over the years, many schools of astrology have held my attention, and I especially appreciate those that delve deeply, but I need structure to help me navigate the deep waters of mutability, otherwise I get overwhelmed.  Just as massage school provided for me years before when all my deep karmic layers unearthed, fresh new astrological training will do for me now.

Now is the time to fully commit to my Gemini north node, and honor my south node dispositor with no holds bar, giving voice to the Virgo-Pisces culture doctor within.  I love bodywork too and will most likely give intuitive integrative massage and core development sessions for the rest of my life, but my heart is in expressing myself via writing, and in counseling, healing (archetypal and other), and communicating.

Gemini is the perpetual student, and always learning.  That's why I love astrology so much, the learning is never ending.  There is so much to it, one could learn for eons.  Caroline Casey once described my Jupiter in Gemini, as "eating information systems for lunch"!  Her descriptions of my chart describe me to a T.

I am becoming myself, as Astrotherapist, who specializes in creative self realization-actualization.  Thanks to our most recent eclipses, (and Alison Gunn for directing me to UAC and encouraging my writing) I have signed up for my first official astrology course via the Organization for Professional Astrologers retreat in November.  There's a writing workshop too!.  This calls for a coming out party!
