Virgo Harvest

With the season of Harvest upon us the Virgo sun gives us the energy to accomplish a great deal now, as it puts us directly in touch with what is important and what demands our attention, especially because Virgo knows how to separate the wheat from the chaff.

This is why the digestive tract and alternative health are ruled by Virgo.  For instance, the energetic function of the small intestines in Chinese Medicine is described as the organ of assimilation. To assimilate one must discern what to keep and what to release; what to let in and what to discard.  Therefore, one could say Virgo is a gatekeeper.  She is very detailed and can pinpoint any mis-alignments or incongruities, so clarity can come forth and clear focus and devotion can be at the forefront of our lives.

While the practical side of Virgo encourages us to be focused on discernment, service and work, Saturn in Virgo calls forth another aspect of the virgin, to align with the sacred temple of our bodies.  Conscious movement and exercise, such as, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, Energy Pilates, weight training, and choosing whole food nutrition, herbs, flower essences, homeopathy, acupuncture, as a means to clean up and organize our inner infrastructure is totally supported now.  All forms of alternative healing and medicine are ruled by Virgo, so check in with you inner goddess and ask her to guide you to the best avenues of healing for you.

Saturn rules all structures; building, bridges, roadways, including the structures of our physical bodies, i.e., bones and teeth.  So it is important to take excellent care of ourselves because Saturn in Virgo narrows and focuses and puts pressure on the physical body.  This is especially true for all those with personal planets in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars).

Okay, let's look at the August 30th Virgo New Moon.  The main focus was the grand trine in earth with Saturn in Virgo, Jupiter in Capricorn and Vesta in Taurus.  Four planets in earth call forth pragmatic and practical planning, building, and foresight for the future.  Feminine in nature, these embodied planets in earth ask us to stabilize and incorporate sacredness, honor, respect, as well as, earthly nourishment and pleasure for our bodies in all of our personal and business investments, choices and decisions.

Saturn intensifies the feeling of pressure to simplify and discern where we put our devotion.  Jupiter expands our beliefs in developing and building successful infrastructures in our personal and professional lives, and Vesta encourages us to be in touch with the hearth fire in our bodies, the hearth fire of our homeland, and our inner sacredness.  Therefore, this is a great time for a developing new change in our government.

In addition to the earth planets, we are graced this month with a stellium of planets in Libra--Venus, Mercury and Mars.  They bestow their harmony and balance into our minds, our bodies and our physical drive for harmonious communicating and relating.  This combination offers us the insight to see all of our relationships, past, present and future, through the lens of beauty, grace, and gratitude, as all relationships eventually bring us further along on our path, deeper into our Selves, and hopefully in higher alignment with the Spiritual inner beauty we all share.  These gifts become the offering we extend to all our relations.

With the democratic convention under foot and the Goddess blessing our path with all the earth and air planets, we culminate the intentions we set at the new moon with the powerful Pisces Harvest Full Moon, September 15th.  This full moon brings forward what we have been cultivating since last spring. Jupiter and Pluto station direct, September 7th and September 8th. Both these planets have been in retrograde motion since April and May, respectively. With their forward motion, what we were building, planning, and cultivating, as well as the resources and career focus needed to support those plans are now available. Also what has felt like a pressure cooker psychologically or spiritually will give way now to a wider and deeper girth.

Three outer planets aspect this full moon, including Neptune the ruler of Pisces, which is in trine to Mercury.  This gives us the opportunity to align our dreams with reality, effort with faith, and our heads to our hearts.  The is moon conjunct Uranus, the Liberator, opposing the sun in Virgo forming a T-square aspect with Pluto.   This T-square brings our attention to what fears are holding us in the shadow, where we are ready for a big breakthrough, and how we will manifest our dreams into reality.

This T-square aspect begins a cycle of seven exact squares between Uranus and Pluto throughout 2012 and 2015.  By late May of 2009 these two planets will be within a 6 degree orb of each other, beginning in earnest the radical transformation needed to awaken the collective.  With Pluto in Capricorn for the next 15 years we have the power to harness our resources, develop new infrastructures, form deep and lasting communities, and to build with the earth in mind.

The 1960s brought us the conjunction of Uranus and Pluto which began the call to evolve and revolutionize socially, politically, and spiritually.  Now, as Uranus and Pluto form into a 90 degree square aspect, they herald an era of extraordinary social, political, and global transformation once again.  The conjunction is the starting point of a cycle.  The square is the turning point.  These squares challenge us now to manifest the visions that were seeded in the 60s , especially for those with mid-degree planets in the signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
(Mountain Astrologer, p.106 August-September 2008).

If your natal chart harkens to one of these signs, whatever you have been cooking up all these years is now ready to find its deepest and most unique pathway into the collective.

The Sabain symbols for the Moon at 23 degrees Pisces:  "A materializing medium giving a seance; the ability to give of one's own vital energy to substantiate one's conscious ideals or unconscious desires.  And for the Sun at 23 degrees Virgo:  "A lion tamer displays his skills and character; the need to tame one's vital energies in order to fulfill one's destiny.

Channel and tame that is our calling this full moon.
